Dear Students,

First of all, welcome to my class and to Ole Miss. Some of you I already know and others I look forward to getting to know. This is a reading and writing course so you will be writing often. I apologize now for all the homework that you have to do, but this is a summer intensive course and so I have to fit in so much in so little time. I hope you understand. Having said that tonight's homework is as follows:

Read: Select and read an online news article about one of your countries from your assigned region. You may use the list of sources from class to find an appropriate article. It must be an American source please.

Write: Write and upload Blog1: one paragraph that summarizes and one paragraph that expresses your opinion relating to the online news article that you read. Please include the link to your article so that I can refer to it.

Happy Writing!!!

Regards,
MD

Robots could cost Australian economy 5 million jobs, experts warn, as companies look to cut costs

The article talks about how robots are stealing the jobs all over the world. The professor Michael Osborne said that if the number of robots increases in industrialized nations almost half of all jobs are at risk. His colleagues analyzed the situation in the US and they concluded that 47 per cent of the current US employment is at a high risk of automation. This percentage is scary, especially if we consider that annually 700 robots are being imported to Australia. The reason why the number of robots is increasing is that the costs are lower and the capabilities higher. The humanoid Baxter, for example, that in the US are at least 190 companies that have it.

Now a day technology is conquering the world, one example is the industries. The problem starts when the technology steals the peoples’ employment, such like Australia. I think that if the companies prefer a robot to save money they should also be bound, by law, to get the workers a different job. Another suggestion is that, by law, the companies are bound to have half of robots and half of people. Honestly, I like technology, it makes the life easier, but I think it’s also stealing the humanity of the world. Now is really difficult to make a conversation with someone is the subway because everyone is on the phone or maybe in a familiar reunion.

China and Vietnam Point Fingers After Clash in South China Sea
    By JANE PERLEZMAY 27, 2014
Dispute between Vietnam and China caused by the sinking of a Vietnamese fishing boat collided with a Chinese boat at the place where Chinese established a Chinese oil rig parked on a disputed waters of the Vietnam’s coast. Although Vietnam saved the Chinese crew, China saw the accident as a strategy of sabotage by Vietnam to take the oil rigs which have been a problematic between the two countries since Vietnam found out that China had installed their rigs in disputed waters behind these countries and without consulting with other claimants. Now Chinese and Vietnamese ships have rammed each other in the area around the oil rigs.
    Opinion:
I think the world now seeks only the slightest pretext to fight and blame others, I consider this unnecessary problem and does not contribute in any way to any of the two countries, unlike it affects them and at the sometime these oil rings would harm not only to both countries if not all ocean too, now they only care the economic gain without thinking of the environment consequences that cannot be repair nor money in a future
China must have reached an agreement with Vietnam to put oil rings that will benefit both. They must thank the rescue of the Chinese crew in responding than they did it, I assumed that the government should worry about his people before everything.

Supa asks Frecuencia Latina to take 'Paisana Jacinta' off the air

    March 25, 2014
    By Hannah Vickers
In the TV program you can see how they discriminate the Andes’ people. It stars comedian Jorge Benavides, the program is about a women from the Andes’ of south Peru who comes to Lima to make a life for herself and each episode sees like cheat and swindle the Andes; people. The Andes’ people in Peru are told “Jacinta”. The program “La paisana Jacinta” first aired 1999-2002, but “Frecuencia Latina” announced the return of the return of the show in this year. The Peru’s people told that the program should be canceled, but the program continues in air.
    Opinion:
I think in the world in the world there are few people who discriminate to other people, in the world there are different types of discriminate, but in Peru is different because they discriminate against people of the Andes’ people on a TV program. I think there must be equity and the government should put sanctions on the racist. All are equal before the law and should not have discriminate.

  6. My article talks about The Aizhai suspension bridge in Hunan province of China. It's the highest and the longest bridge in the world. They took a loan about 208 million from Asian Development Bank to build this bridge. They expected that the bridge will bring many visitors from all the world to Hunan Province. The reason to build this bridge was to help people get rid of the junctures of the mountains. The experts said it would take 8 second for a car to reach ground if the bridge fall. But this would not happen. Also they said that this bridge is a monster compared to other constructions.

I like the idea of this bridge. Because it's Saves people life from junctures of the mountains and that's the reason why they build this bridge. Also this bridge will bring many visitors from all the word. And this will raise the economy of China. I think the secret of this bridge are The perfect design and implementation. also they finished build the bridge before the time limit.

  9. This article talks about Energy developments in Berlin and about the Solutions carried out by the city to fixed this problem . In the past berlin's Energy was from Swedish firm that's called Vattenfall. This firm relies on brown coal as an energy source, But burning causes pollution. Because of that the firm decided to look for other resources . They have to build power plants as a source of energy and to facilitate the delivery of electricity. After the restoration of the electricity network in 1993 In the western regions of Berlin for 42 years They built a 380 kV power line when Berlin was not connected to the electric grid in West.
After that this thing become the backbone of power in the city. The car maker Daimler AG and the electric utility RWE AG now try to build cars works with electricity…

In my opinion i think is good idea to use the natural resources because it's save the nature from the Pollution. Also it's cheaper than Brown coal. Natural sources are less likely combustion and less risky. If we want a good life Free of problems and diseases, we have to maintain the environment from pollution .

  13. The religion in Tanzania

Since religious demography has been removed from government censuses as of 1967, reliable statistics on religious affiliation are difficult to obtain. Sociologists and religious leaders estimate that between 30% and 40% of the total population are Christian and that about an equal percentage are Muslim. while others belong to one of several Shi'a groups. On the island of Zanzibar, about 98% of the inhabitants are Muslim. Though the constitution forbids religious discrimination, Some Muslims also believe that Christian students are favored over Muslims in the government-run schools. A number of fundamental Muslims argue that the government is attempting to institute a Christian state. The growing tensions have not been addressed by the government.

In my opinion I like the Tanzania religion is very just. Because there is no deferent between the Christianity and Islam. And also there is no deferent in percentage between the Islam people and the Christian people.

Spain: Village Votes for New Name

This new talk us about the situation of a village located at the country of Spain. The situation is that they have been known whit a name that throwback us to the memories of the Second World War and they have voted to change it. It mentions to that they don't know how the village got its name but they spect to switch to a name that distance them from their Jewish past.

I believe that was a well decision the one taken by the residents, the fact that the village used to had that name means that they could have problems or situations were presented to them, like the ones that signal them as murders in the history just for using a name that means that they we're related with the events of the war. The new name will help them to disengage from the events of the past and with this they would feel better with that change.

  18. Argentina is known for have a good economic position but now is not in the best of its months because Argentina have a heavy debt to USA, and Argentina need to pay more quickly as possible because USA puts pressure on the government of Argentina and now in the most organizations of United states discussed the problem of the debt of millions and millions that Argentina has accumulated around this thirteen years of loans for part of USA, this article have the idea to how is the economic status of Argentina while USA try to come to final terms. (Wolf, 2014)

My opinion is that USA is a country very liberal and with much money, courses have the possibility to be more patient with Argentina because in this case, Argentina is a country that never have been bad with other countries or have politics problems with other nations, so is very important study the causes of why Argentina becomes to have this type of debt and obviously inform to other countries for this case and prevent happened other problem like this, not most important to say that is probable improve the relationships of the other nations .

  19. Dalia won with the 58% votes ( elections of Lithuania, BBC.com, saw 28 may, may 2014). She is the first reelected in this country and the first too that won twice with the same opponent. Also she won is because hers planes to what the up the country are the best then the her opponent. And now the town is very happiness with her and think that she'll arrive to the best opportunities.

I think that she won for confidence and because hers planes is ok and I think that hers last government are fine and for that the people have the change again, so she can't do the things bad this time although I think that the politicals always can be wrong.
